Front End Web Developer

The Role

The primary function of this role is to help develop online solutions for email, internet, intranet and extranet deployment.

You will be involved in broad variety of challenging projects, integrating with the creative, technical and project management teams, using your design/technical skills to translate designs into validating, standards compliant XHTML/CSS.

Typical projects will range from small website development to more complex online applications for a range of B2B and B2C clients and brands.

The candidate will have the appetite to stay abreast of current standards and technologies, learning new skills as required and will work within the team to enhance Code’s overall front-end capabilities and offering.

 

Required Skills and Experience

Candidates should have excellent communication skills and a strong team/work ethic.  Ideally, candidates will have previously worked in a similar agency environment.

Formal IT qualifications or university degree are preferable but not essential.

Candidates should possess:

  • Good knowledge of usability, information, interaction, and visual design
  • Mastery of hand-coded XHTML and CSS, adhering to W3C standards. Table-free layouts; semantic markup; standards enthusiast; cross platform/browser compatibility
  • HTML email build and client compatibility
  • Willingness to contribute to both large, complex projects and smaller tasks as directed
  • Ability to work quickly and manage multiple projects and timelines
  • Creative, yet meticulously detail oriented. Sense of craftsmanship

Technical Skills

The candidate should be fully conversant with:

  • XHTML 1.0 Strict/CSS
  • Adobe Photoshop/ImageReady
  • W3C Web Standards
  • Online accessibility
  • Search Engine Optimisation best practices

Additionally knowledge in the following areas will be beneficial but not essential:

  • Experience integrating server-side logic (.NET Controls, Classic ASP) into markup, or vice versa.
  • Flash/Actionscript
  • Source control software
  • Javascript / XML / AJAX

A portfolio of recent work (URLs) will be required for interview selection.
